DJ or Entertainer?

What's the difference between a DJ and an Entertainer?

def:
DJ/Disc Jockey: One who conducts and announces a radio show of popular recorded music: also one who plays recorded music for dancing...

def:
Entertain/Entertainer: To receive and provide for a host: to provide entertainment, to be a source of entertainment for.

Ok here's one more for you to think about...

def:
Emcee: A person who acts as a host at a formal event or on an entertainment program (as on television).

What's is the difference?
Most companies abroad have the title DJ. If you type the keyword DJ in search engines many companies will appear. What if you search Emcee will dj's come up? How about entertainer? Chances are highly unlikely.

A disc jockey or dj will most likely perform as it's defined. Play music and make announcements at a function such as a wedding. They do this behind their table or facade. Much like a radio dj does the same behind an enclosed area called a studio room.

DJ entertainer/entertain is a combination of the two. Plays music, makes announcements but will step away from his or her facade and get out front. Interact with family, friends and entertain with his or her personality to create fun and excitement.

Emcee (master of ceremonies) a coordinator of events. Ex...Introducing the bride, groom and bridal party attendants at a wedding reception. Coordinate the surprise of the guest of honor at a birthday party. Lead a bride and groom into the cake cutting ceremony.

Let's reiterate!
The question...What's the difference between a DJ or Entertainer?

Answer: Each has it's own identity!!!

Now here's something to consider: If you find an individual who posses all three skills, your on the right track.

Tip of the day...There are select individuals in the dj entertainment field that posses all three skills. They are always the most experienced and in high demand. If your planning an event such as a wedding, make it your top priority to seek them out early before their all gone :o)

All our best!
